"I will set you on high because you have known My Name, but it must be a purified you to be so exalted."
Purified you...most believers, including myself, when they think of purity their minds usually go straight to sexual purity. Purity is a very common topic to a lot of teenagers and young adults and the point is usually the same, "Wait until marriage to do the deed." (which is extremely important!) But oh, how many other meanings Christ implies when He calls us to be pure!
This morning Jesus convicted me of having other idols before Him. I think this can also easily be translated into a call of purity. I am definitely not a "purified me" if I am putting material things before my Savior. As would if I gossip, lie, cheat, covet my neighbor, act selfishly, criticize...these are all impure actions. Not only can one's actions be impure, but also one's thoughts. Not only one's heart, but also one's mind. Thoughts of envy, hatred, fear, doubt, worry...these are all impure thoughts.
Purified you---that means so much more than sexual purity. Wow. That's something to rejoice about! Thankful for a Savior that guards our hearts so tenderly and lovingly. Thankful for a Savior that cares enough to warn and convict His children.
"The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting." Psalm 50:1 (ESV)
